During his campaign launch on Monday, October 5, 2026, Njeru highlighted several critical issues facing Kenya. He pointed to persistent public service shortfalls, including inadequate basic infrastructure and a lack of essential supplies in public hospitals, noting that communities still struggle with access to water.
Njeru also addressed the significant challenge of youth unemployment, citing a report that indicated 91.5% of Kenyan youth are employed in informal sectors, with graduates often taking on manual labor or security roles.
Economically, Njeru warned of potential instability due to a widening budget deficit. He noted that national tax collections of Ksh2.8 trillion are outpaced by public spending of Ksh4.5 trillion, necessitating substantial additional borrowing.
With 35 years of experience in commercial law and corporate leadership, including roles on bank boards in Rwanda and Uganda, Njeru believes his combined public and private sector background prepares him to address leadership and governance deficits. He plans to conduct nationwide campaign tours.
